My 1st blog. Woo hoo
Following the inspiration of e-dayz I have decided I've spent enough time researching etc, I must make a start.
My proposal is:
On 1st attendance for 1st year apps (as well as the normal induction stuff), I will have them sign up to my moodle site, demo it, and demo photostory (or similar). They will have access to moodle as an option to workbooks, etc, and they will be required to make DST of some tasks both in TAFE and workplace. This will be pa…

thanks for your replies. Yes it is the VETSA moodle site. It was where I landed so went with that one. I will check out the Edna one. As for as the new TAFESA 8MB site i was under the impression that was for "North" only but can check out too. Yes am aware we can use external sites for podcasts etc its just a matter of getting to it. As everything is new it takes a bit of time (I know everyone is in the same boat, so am not stressed).
Yes... know about the toolbox repository and LORN etc & tried to load up something from there into moodle but it didn't work successfully so will have to relook at that.
As I will be sourcing the L/objects for lecturers it means there is always that little extra "loop" in there of getting their OK on the suitability etc.
What did you use to create your avatar - on the moodle?? SL or another?
Well I don't want to write a book so signing off.
Cheers

what about if you use Podomatic to upload podcasts. These podcasts are then not stored on your moodle server it will be stored on the podomatic server. There is a free sign up with podomatic which has the downside of giving you again a limited upload space. I just thought I throw that in to give you something to think about. Podomatic page is http://www.podomatic.com/
Activities do not only have to be located within a LMS such as moodle use external tools (Web2.0) too such as podomatic.
I have had a look at your moodle site, not extensively (time is always an issue, as is for all!).
I think you have done a good job. I like the way you have set up the buttons on the side of the page. It looks clean.
I am located at Mt Gambier and we only have 2MB upload to moodle which is frustraing as i would, like you like to add more interactivity podcasts etc to our site.
I have put up an OH&S competency (ECH program area!) and while the info is there it is not really as media rich/interactive as I would like, but I guess we have to start somewhere. The idea is that our external/flexi and classroom students could do the Core units via moodle
While the unit may be OK as is there is still a lot to do.
I haven't been involved in this area very long so have a long way to go and heaps to master.
As a newbie to this i do spend a bit of time looking around and getting over-full with info/ideas. I think the key is, as someone else has posted somewhere on this site, to get active with commenting/interacting etc.
I will email you with the address etc for the moodle site but I think I should be the one getting ideas on "how to" from you!

Thanks for your messages. They are much appreciated. I haven't had the chance to read them fully yet as I am facilitating today, and will be teaching tonight, But I will read in detail later and reply in full :)
Thanks again :)
That is so great about all your firsts... it is so nice to know that what you do has some impact on another.
Your question about your blog post is a really good question and definitely something I have been pondering myself because of how the blog feature works definitely from a normal blog.
If your blog was hosted with say blogger or edublogs than I would recommend that you post a comment below their comments, maybe post a comment on their blog and if time send them an email thanking them for their comments with any response you have made.
When someone puts a comment on your post there is never a guarantee that they will read your comment back on that post however it is important that you are seen to comment back because other readers realise that you value the comments. (I hope that makes sense?). Check out my blog and you will see how I normally do this. I normally do this several times a week and how now realised I have got behind oops!
My suggest for Ning would be to go to their page and write a comment thanking them because they do receive an email when you write on their wall. And I would also write a comment under their comments even if they may not see it just so others know that you value their comments.
PS oops sorry for a really long response but it was such a good question.

Not sure if you are able to do that. Have this set up on both my home and work computer. That way do not have to locate it and when I press the home icon on my web browser it takes me straight back.
If you are using Internet Explorer and want to make iGoogle your homepage. Log into igoolge and then go to the top and select Tools > Internet Options > and click on Use Current.
