Hi Frank,

The first time I accessed an Elluminate session I couldn't believe it!
It's also a great way to improve my listening skills ;)

Well, up to last semester I was using classblogs. Now thanks to this site and to Sue, I created a network where I pretend to gather all my students from different classes and even from different universities. (I teach in both a private and a public university) . I am organizing a group for each class. You can see it here

I think that using technogies in the classroom is still something very optional here. On the other hand, we have sites where we have to upload gades, lesson plans and other information for students. I use them, but I don't like them, though. I really prefer to use these social sites because students can do more than just read information, follow links and email questions.

At the university we have computer labs and access to data projectors, which have help me to improve my teaching. But I have also discovered that students like "old" things like working with paper flashcards and cut outs from magazines.

I haven't been involved in e-learning, though.
Well, hope to have provided a good picture of what's going on here.
See you. :)

I didn't create that slideshow. A group of colleagues created it (and a few more) as part of their thesis. Here's the blog

Hi Violetta,

Great slideshow of home town - I wish I could make my suburb look so good.

I'm still amazed at how someone from Chile can participate in the same conference as me (the elluminate session) only a short time ago. Fascinating.
I'm pretty new to the online learning stuff with students, so I would be very interested in how things have been implemented in your region.
Regards

Hi,
Well the pronunciation would be ee-kee-ke.
There's only one Chilean city northern to Iquique and that is Arica. a-ree-ka
I love my city, it's small but I like it that way. One time an American friend visiting here said "I guess it's impossible to get lost in this city, you just have to walk towards the sea and follow the coastline north." I guess he was right, walking all across the city won't take you more than 2 hours :)
What about your hometown?

Here's a slideshow with pictures from Iquique.

See you!

Hi Violetta,
I'm intrigued by your hometown iquique - forgive me, but do you say it e-keek? It would have to be one of the closest Chilean, and South American towns to where I live in Brisbane, Australia. Iquique is closer to the Equator by about 1100km.

Thanks for your warm welcome and for admitting me here.
I am learning all I can from here, but I really wish I had more free time to accomplish more.
;)

Hi Violeta -- welcome to our community.

It is great that you have joined us. After reading your reply on favourite tools I won't nag you about using a Feed Reader like Google Reader to manage the feeds from this site because I can appreciate how reading in a second language must be so much harder.

Please let me know if you need any assistance.
